Dr. Cristopher Hanacek
Child Psychiatrist
Dr. Cristopher Hanacek is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. He completed both his general psychiatry residency and his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Hanacek brings a uniquely research-grounded perspective to clinical care. His published work spans psychiatry, hematology, and anesthesiology, with peer-reviewed publications including work on insomnia in patients with substance use disorders. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association, and holds board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Before entering psychiatry, Dr. Hanacek worked as a research coordinator at UC San Diego’s Hemophilia Treatment Center and as a simulation technician at UC Irvine, where he co-authored multiple studies in anesthesia and emergency medicine. This breadth of clinical and scientific experience informs his evidence-based, whole-person approach to mental health care.
Dr. Hanacek has a long history of community involvement — from teaching karate to children with special needs, to mentoring underserved high school students, to providing medical care on a mission trip to Ecuador.
